Steamed Pork Buns (Bánh Bao)

 
 

Here’s another Vietnamese recipe using Lạp Xưởng (Chinese Sausage). I used to eat these all the time as a kid! For the filling, I used @vicky.pham’s recipe since this was my first time attempting this dish. Instead of making dough from scratch, I used a pre-packaged flour (search Amazon for “Kim Tự Tháp” brand and find “Bột Bánh Bao”) and followed instructions on the package.

Recipe

Ingredients (10-12 Servings)

1 PACKAGE KIM TỰ THÁP BÁNH BAO FLOUR
1/2 CUP YELLOW ONION, CHOPPED
3/4 LB. GROUND PORK
1 TSP SUGAR
2 TBSP OYSTER SAUCE
1/4 TBSP MUSHROOM SEASONING
1 TSP SESAME OIL
1/4 CUP REHYDRATED WOODEAR MUSHROOMS, MINCED
1/4 CUP FROZEN PEAS AND CARROTS
2 CHINESE SAUSAGES, THINLY SLICED
12 QUAIL EGGS (HARD-BOILED AND PEELED)
